Saturday evening was the countywide Dispatcher Of The Year banquet (each agency votes for one of their own to win). The theme this year was mardi gras and the banquet was held on the top floor of the crown plaza hotel, right on the beach in Ventura.
Our DOTY this year, Jordan, was sick and couldn't attend. Jordan asked me to accept his award and I was nervous about giving a speech in front of so many people, but Chris wrote a speech for me so I was feeling okay.
Since the real Jordan couldn't attend, we went to build-a-bear and made one to attend in his place. Chris and "Jordan" seem to be having a good time at the banquet.
Patti was our DOTY last year and was there to hand off the title to "Jordan".
Chris and me and me, Patti and Julie
The girls and "Jordan"...who seemed to be enjoying himself!
Fortunately, I didn't have to give a speech! One of our chief's gave a talk about Jordan and I just had to stand there...phew!
"Jordan" and all of his goodies.
Our host for the evening, Jose, a dispatcher from the Sheriff's department enjoying a moment with "Jordan".
Chris and Patti's husband, Kevin, seemed to enjoy themselves!
Congratulations Jordan, we had a good time even though you weren't there!

Glad my bear surrogate had such a great time, it almost makes up for the fact that I couldn't go. Maybe next year?..
