Ok, it's time to share with you part of the big project of the weekend...Mom and Dad came down to help us complete our dual-sided fireplace.
Prior to us deciding to do it ourselves, we had two contractors come over to give us quotes to have it done, we figured with our crazy work schedules it might be better to have a professional do the job, but after their outrageously overpriced quotes, Mom and Dad convinced us that the four of us could complete the job for far less cost and in far less time!
What do you know...they were right!!! So here is part of the hard work that was done this weekend.
Before:
Blah! Exposed concrete and completely unfinished
Step one:
Dad and Chris created a frame for the hearth, to be topped with hardie backer and stone and tile.
Step three:
Leave a little art hidden in the hearth.
Step four:
Start adding the stone/tile to the hearth
Step five:
Making sure the tiles are even and getting ready to install the stone and mantel on the walls
Step six:
Show off the hard work! Dad and Chris worked extremely hard on the fireplaces and I am in love with how it came out!
Thank you, thank you, thank you Mom, Dad, and Chris for all of your hard work. Our house is really turning into a home and with all the help we have had, it really shows how much we are loved.
