Surprise!

I was talking with my Mom on the phone Sunday evening and she was telling me about all of the projects and work that she and Dad have been doing. I decided that, since Chris was working and I could put my own chores off for another day, I would surprise them with a visit to help with their projects on Monday.

I awoke with Chris at 4:00 am to head up to Los Osos (**side note to my wonderful husband: I honestly do not know how you have been getting up at that time for the last few months, working for 12+ hours and then driving an hour and a half home and not getting to bed before 10pm most nights. You are amazing and I am so thankful for you and what you do for our family.**) and had to stop at Starbucks, where I met a lovely little old man {if you don't know, I have a very soft spot in my heart for little old men and find most of them to be pleasant when I often chat with them}.

I was happy that I had a few minutes before Mom and Dad came into the living room , so that I could really surprise them. I sat down to read the paper and Mom was totally surprised when she came in and saw me sitting there.

The day was absolutely gorgeous and we took full advantage by running errands, eating lunch at the beach and working in the yard.

Looks like they are in Hawaii (but it's Pismo Beach)!

After we enjoyed our Sangria!

After lunch it was back to work at home and I was able to help make a new ladder for "the girls".

Taa Daa!

Dad enjoying the coop as much as the girls...or not!

Mom went in to help Dad out!

The finished ladder and coop.

Clara and Belle

Madge and Lola (or is it Iris?) I didn't get a picture of the other brown chicken.

The girls gave us one egg...and I decided to make it look like Dad.

It is wonderful that we are so close that I can just pop home (after a 2.5 hour drive, that is). It was a day full of much needed family time and I'm pretty sure that we all enjoyed the day.

I hope you get to enjoy some time with your family this week!
