The first Thanksgiving

This was the first year that we had Thanksgiving at our house, and my first time cooking a turkey! Fortunately, most everything came out well, the house fit everyone easily, and we all had a wonderful time {if I do say so myself}.

One of the first items on the to-do list was to get the turkey ready. Dad was able to show us how it was done and Chris was a willing student.

Putting the butter and other seasonings under the turkey skin.

I even got to stuff the turkey...lucky me!

Us and our Tom turkey

Before going into the oven {Chris was very tender when massaging the olive oil onto the skin of the turkey}

We did have a little mishap with the turkey...we thought it was done, because well...the thermometer said it was done and the juices ran clear and some skin was falling off the bone...but alas, it wasn't so we ended up eating in two shifts. First everyone got their ham and side dishes and then were able to go back for seconds and turkey. Oh well...our Thanksgiving memory!

We bought a new dining room table from Urban Home and it looked beautiful set for dinner {sorry for having not the best picture}

We also set up another table in front of the fireplace because we had eighteen people over. Everyone fit comfortably in the dining/living room and it was a wonderful time together.

My wonderful Mom and I! We never get enough time together and I was so thankful to have her and Dad here all weekend to help and celebrate with us.

I hope that you have a wonderful celebration, with whatever/whenever you get to do!
I am thankful for you, my readers!
