We got the keys to our home on Tuesday. The locks were immediately changed and we even had a few contractors in to give us some bids on the minor things we want changed.
By Wednesday we were already anxious to get started making it our own. We spent the day meeting with flooring people and contractors who could scrape the popcorn ceilings. We tackled a couple of very minor projects: removing nails and screws from the walls; taking down old blind and curtain rods; getting rid of the shower door frame (there were no actual doors on it, just the frame) and talking about what updates we want to do.
I had to work Thursday, but Chris was there meeting with the contractor we decided to hire; taking out the old appliances; and doing a few other minor repairs, getting the house ready for the real work to begin. One of our neighbors came over to introduce herself and she left a piece of her mail with him so that we would have her address and phone number (I'm thinking we have our own personal neighborhood watch, which is not always a bad thing).
Fortunately we both have the same vision for our home and are able to talk about our ideas easily. We agreed on the flooring type and colors pretty easily and next we are going to look at paint colors.
Bring on the fun!
