Looking through my photos I realized I never shared Wyatt's room with you. I really like how it turned out and we all enjoy spending family time in there. His room is the brightest in the house, so I'm still looking for some blackout curtains but the sunshine doesn't seem to wake him up in the mornings. There are a few things I would like to change about his room, but for now it fulfills it's purpose!
I knew I wanted to go with a nautical theme and it all came together well with different patterns, items that are sentimental and others that are new. I saw on pinterest a room with a stripe and I always liked it. I decided it was the perfect way to accent the wall behind the crib. (doing it differently now, I would use a grey color instead of the tan but I still really like having the crisp stripe).
The dresser is from Home Depot and I upgraded the knobs (from lowe's) from plain white to dark blue with white anchors. I love how they give the plain dresser a pop. {I did the same with Bailey's dresser, one little change makes a big difference!}
The wall hanger my Mom found at TJ Maxx and it has three whale tails as the hangers. It has his "hockey skates" my Aunt made him, a pirate hat and eyepatch, and some beanies.
I wanted to make a grouping on the small wall between the window and bathroom door and filled it with some favorite things.
The porthole mirror came from my Grandparent's home, Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel book was a favorite of my Dad's, the turtle sculpture I won at a luau, My parents made the twinkle sign, the lantern was made by my Pawpaw.
Wyatt's books are stored next to the glider, sometimes Bailey will come in to read us books while I'm feeding or sitting with him. We continued the stripes in the curtains, but they are thin and even with a thick white curtain behind them the sun still shines through.
Before Wyatt was born, Bailey liked to make him drawings and she asked that one be hung up, so we taped it above his changing table for him to see. The ahoy banner was made for my baby shower by my sister-in-law and Chris chose the whale from Target.
The striped laundry basket came from TJ Maxx, the baskets in the cubbies came from Target.
We saved Bailey's crib and now Wyatt is using it. We have a small rocking chair for Bailey next to the glider and she likes to sit there. The anchor also came from Target (as did the rug), the ship rocking toy came from some of my work friends.
I was worried that all the varying patterns would get too hectic, especially with the large pattern on the floor but I really like how it all came together. We have crib sheets and changing table sheets in varying patterns and colors and they all seem to work together.
The furniture is all against the walls, leaving a big area in the middle for our dance and tickle parties we have. I can see the kids playing with toys together in here in the future.
Remember the pirate hat and eyepatch from his whale hooks? Here is what they look like on Wyatt:
I sure love my little pirate!
