Camping

This past weekend we had days off together and decided to go camping at Lake Casitas in Ojai. Some of our friends were able to join us and it was a fun weekend!

Here is our wonderful view, before we got everything set up.

It was warm and sunny all weekend!

Jenny supervising as the boys put up the tents.

There were many critters around and this squirrel loved our trash can!

The infamous island. On a previous camping trip Chris and his friends swam out here (no matter that no one is allowed to even touch the water in the lake, let alone swim in it!)

Of course we had to go fishing, I love the colorful lures that Chris has in his tackle box.

If you need any tackle, I'm sure that we could help you out!

On the second day we rented a pontoon boat (that thankfully had a shade cover).

Our captain.

Getting the bait ready!

Jenny and Ben.

Off the front of our boat, maybe we used their heads as bait!

"I think the fish are over there!"

"I'm the king of the world!"

Can you tell how Jenny really feels about fishing?

Ish came and joined us towards the end of the day.

Chris caught one!
The only one we hooked the entire weekend. But we let it go, so maybe next time it would remember and let us catch it again.

Ish, Ben, Chris, Justin, and Kevin.

Justin loves Chris!

Who needs pots when you can cook in the can?

Evening. Lovely.

Camping just isn't camping without these three!

I was too impatient to wait for the coals in the fire pit to cool enough to roast the marshmallows, so I used the grill instead.

We had lots of fun playing games.

Our roaring campfire.

Ben dancing in front of the fire.

Jenny jumping for joy (or s'mores).

Ish serenaded us around the campfire, such a sweet time singing Jack Johnson and other acoustic songs.

Chris decided to get in on the action and was serenading Brad while he tried to sleep.

Jenny rocking out.

ET phone home!

My friend!

Me and Ish.

Ben and Jenny.

Home sweet home for the weekend.
(It wasn't raining, the lens just had some dust on it).
We definitely learned a few things on this camping trip, such as:
1. If you want to sleep on an air mattress, make sure that the pump is charged before you leave home because it only charges in a wall outlet.
2. Have all the utensils you need (such as a spatula to flip burgers on the grill).
3. Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!
4. Choose your camping compadres carefully, people can either make or break the trip.
and finally...
5. Just have fun!
