weekly happenings

Well...it looks like my attempt at blogging more often hasn't happened, but I'm working on it. Here's what going around in our lives lately:

We celebrated our friend Chloe's first birthday. Bailey (and Chloe) headed straight for the kiddie pool...and climbed in {fully clothed and shoes on}. Fortunately, it was a beautiful day and their clothes dried quickly.

After Chloe's party, we headed to downtown Santa Barbara to meet up with other friends and ended up trying to have a BBQ on the beach. It was cooler than expected, the coals wouldn't light, and we didn't have any forks or a spatula to turn the hamburgers. So we packed it up {after a long, eventful day} and headed home. Bailey was asleep within five minutes!

Surprisingly, both Chris and I were off on Memorial day. We celebrated by having lunch at one of our favorite places in town and enjoying the afternoon at his Sister's house. It was sunny on our walk back to the car and Bailey enjoyed wearing her sunglasses. {She's decided that she only wants them on if she's outside}. I had to snap a quick picture of my two shaded lovies!

This week marked my fifth year with the Ventura County Fire Department. I got a nice certificate and pin. It's hard to believe I've been here for five years already, so much has changed since I started. I'm so thankful that I made the move over here and have been able to help people in the ways I have.

It has been really warm lately, so we have been getting lots of use out of our splash pad. I'm so thankful that Bailey loves the water, we're starting our second round of swimming lessons in July.

The next two months are going to be busy for us, work on the backyard is continuing, a little girl is having a first birthday {how is that possible???} and we are taking a couple of little trips. Thankfully it includes more family time for the three of us and hopefully lots of memories being made.

I hope that this post finds you well and come back tomorrow for a cute little one on a wordless Wednesday.
