This "weekend" (Tues-Thurs) we were able to go visit Mom and Dad. It was a short trip, but it was wonderful to go home and spend time in the sunshine.
A big bumble bee in the back lawn.
The girls taking dirt baths in the shade.
My parents have helped us out so much with our house, it was time to pay a little of that back. My Pawpaw build an amazing log splitter and we fired it up! The wood before it was split.
Chris and Dad getting it ready.
Me, Mom, and Chris in action.
The after...and this is just part of what we split. Like my Pawpaw used to say; "Having split wood is like having money in the bank."
With the rain in SLO this week, it's a good thing that we got it split so that Mom and Dad could enjoy a fire in the fireplace.
Some of the wood had termites and the girls were more than happy to take care of them for us. It was funny to watch them peck at the wood and chase bugs.
I think that the girls really enjoyed the termites because I collected four eggs the next day!
The weather was absolutely beautiful, we all got a little tanned when we were splitting wood. As dinner was on the BBQ we spent the evening playing games and eating appetizers on the patio.
On Wednesday, we were able to get together with one of my good friends, Sarah! It was such a great time of catching up and making summer plans.
Another must stop in SLO (in a gross, unique way) is Bubblegum alley. This is an alley that people have been sticking their used chewing gum on the walls for years and years. There are many designs and different types of gum stuck on the wall.
We did a lot of relaxing and I spent a good amount of time looking through a kaleidoscope {I tried to capture one of the images that made me say ooohhh}.
Brick enjoyed the visit and got lots of attention, which obviously tired her out.
I hope you are enjoying your weekend, no matter what days off you really have!
